Day 5: U for Under Grace
Begin with a couple of minutes of stillness and silence, to let go of the things on your mind and to become aware of God’s presence.
READ: 2 Timothy 1:9 (GNT)
He saved us and called us to be his own people, not because of what we have done, but because of his own purpose and grace. He gave us this grace by means of Christ Jesus before the beginning of time.
While the Bible provides us with guidance on how we can grow in our faith and live a Godly life, the Good News of the Gospel is that we have been saved by grace. Jesus was clear that, “If the Son sets you free, then you will be really free.” (John 8:36 GNT). It is for freedom that Jesus has set us free and we are to live under grace and not under a vast array of rules and regulations. Of course there are patterns of behaviour to emulate and others to avoid, but that is where grace come in.
Unlike some cults where you have to pay to take courses of instruction to progress on the journey, we can pray for grace to follow the patterns Jesus demonstrated . Furthermore, we can ask the Spirit to guard and guide us as we seek to follow The Way in truth, that His life may flow into us and through us to those we meet and connect with as we journey.
Choose a word, phrase, or even the whole verse to silently ponder on. Turn it over and over in your mind and see what God will show you through it.
PRAY the Lord’s Prayer.
Carry your chosen word/phrase/verse into the day with you and repeat it at intervals during the day.
Make a note of the insights you gained from this verse in your journal.
