Day 2: N for Now
Begin with a couple of minutes of stillness and silence, to let go of the things on your mind and to become aware of God’s presence.
READ 2 Corinthians 6:2 (NIV)
For he says, “In the time of my favour I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favour, now is the day of salvation.
The beginning of January is traditionally the time for New Year’s Resolutions and new beginnings. The membership rate of gyms and fitness centres soars in January. There are a definitely a lot more people at the one I go to and regular members report that by the end of February it will have got quieter again, as enthusiasm wanes and the attendance of new members tails off!
Now is the time to press on with our journey of faith, into all that the year ahead holds for us, and to keep running the race marked out for us. Let us follow Mother Teresa’s advice – she said, “Yesterday has gone, tomorrow has not yet come, we have only today. Let’s begin.”
Choose a word, phrase, or even the whole verse to silently ponder on. Turn it over and over in your mind and see what God will show you through it.
PRAY the Lord’s Prayer.
Carry your chosen word/phrase/verse into the day with you and repeat it at intervals during the day.
Make a note of the insights you gained from this verse in your journal.
