Day 3: R for Refuse
Begin with a couple of minutes of stillness and silence, to let go of the things on your mind and to become aware of God’s presence.
READ Psalm 84:11 (GNT)
The Lord is our protector and glorious king, blessing us with kindness and honour. He does not refuse any good thing to those who do what is right.
The definition of the word refuse includes declining to accept, submit, or give, as well as a determination not to do something. In the show jumping arena we use the word when a horse refuses to go over a jump, despite encouragement to do so by its rider!
Over the course of our lives there will have been occasions when we have decided to refuse to accept, summit to, or give something or someone and shown a determination not to follow a course of action which has presented itself to us.
The verse today highlights the goodness and kindness of God to those that do what is right in his sight., and do not refuse to accept his offer of life. Jesus comments in Luke 11:11-13 that if our children ask for fish or an egg we would not give them a snake or scorpion instead, and that if we know how to give good things to our children, “How much more will our Father in heaven give the Holy spirit to those who ask him!” (Luke 11:13 GNT)
Choose a word, phrase, or even the whole verse to silently ponder on. Turn it over and over in your mind and see what God will show you through it.
PRAY the Lord’s Prayer
Carry your chosen word/phrase/verse into the day with you and repeat it at intervals during the day.
Make a note of the insights you gained from this verse in your journal.
